A question often pops up in my mind. Am I good enough?

We relentlessly compare ourselves to the people around us. In this process, we almost deny loving ourselves to the fullest. We feel as if we there is something wrong with us. Like, not being able to earn certain amount of money, not having many friends and feeling inferior in many other ways. Being constantly questioned about our weight, height, complexion and habits. This makes us shelled up and we vigorously try to live up to the expectations of the society. Amidst this pressure, majority of us forget the uniqueness in us. But why so?

Primarily, because in the quest to find love around ourselves, we often forget to find it within. What needs to be highlighted is the what self love actually means. It’s not something that can be discovered in small fraction of time but rather it is very abstract and highly depends on the realisation that, instead of simply validating ourselves through someone else’s eye, the core necessity is “acceptance”, of all your flaws and imperfections.

Self love necessarily doesn’t mean going out on expensive dates with self and spending huge amounts. But small and ordinary things like doing things that make you happy, even if it doesn’t make sense to others. Sometimes it’s also about, cutting the ties, no matter how precious they were to you. But self love is sometimes misconceived as being selfish. But it is something that we all should do, because we all matter. It is important to think if it really makes us happy and having a healthy regard for yourself and knowing that you’re a worthy human being.

Imagine yourself to be a tree. Our trunk , along with roots is where our strength and sense of self lies. It makes us much more grounded. Up higher are the branches and leaves, which is constantly blown by the wind or rain. These leaves and branches are just like the criticisms and people’s opinions that tend to influence us and how easily we get affected by them. We need to live up in our trunk, so that no matter how bad the weather is, no wind and rain, could knock us down. The beauty of the tree definitely doesn’t depend on the leaves and it’s branches but tree as a whole. It would be crazy to ignore all its beauty just because of. one of the branch.

Many of us think, ‘If I could just, then I would feel beautiful”. For some that might be losing. or gaining weight , changing hair, trying different clothes. This makes me so sad.

Cribbing over your imperfections takes you nowhere. Only if you work on it, marks a difference. Before you conclude that you’re unattractive, basic and a disappointment think over this. “Beauty starts in your head, not in your mirror”, so the first thing you need is to start complimenting yourself and celebrating for who you are. You are worth all the happiness and love.

And if I asked you to name a few people you love?

How long would it take for you to name yourself? Unless you love yourself, you can’t expect others to love and respect you.

I want everyone to look into their mirrors and just say , “that I’m beautiful” All it takes is for us to believe.

If you feel beautiful today. Drop a !!💙

Here is mine 💙
